Altea is a peaceful town located north of Benidorm. Of all the towns on the Costa Blanca, Altea is probably the one that remains the least exploited and overdeveloped, where daily life remains uninterrupted by tourists and huge hotels have yet to be built. Altea has a long jetty and attractive walkway fronting a calm stretch of shoreline. The larger resort of Albir is just a 15 minute walk away down the front. The town's central Plaza de la Iglesia leads onto narrow cobblestone streets and offers beautiful Mediterranean views.
Visitors shouldn't be fooled by the laidback atmosphere though, as Altea sports a thriving nightlife. If days are for soaking up the sun on the beach, nights are for good food and drink in some of the town's great restaurants and bars. The night time entertainment is extremely varied and can range from a traditional Iberian street cafe to live music in pubs. The nightlife gets very interesting during festival season from June through to August.
Altea is approximately a 75 minute transfer from the airport
