The resort of Arenal, which you may also see written as El Arenal or S'Arenal, is situated along the central south coast of Majorca, the resort lies at the eastern end of a 6km stretch of beach running from through and finally on to Arenal in the east.
It is now pretty much impossible to notice where one resort ends and the other begins, the three resorts are joined by a wide pedestrian promenade along the beach which is completely flat and ideal for people with walking difficulties, or families with young children. Alternatively, if you don't fancy the walk, a mini train runs along the promenade which is also a convenient way to get around.
Water sports are extremely popular, with many tourists choosing to make the most of activities such as kite surfing, jet skiing and scuba diving. The local harbour provides fishing and boat excursions for those who prefer something a little more relaxed. Arenal is also home to the amazing Aqualand water park, one of Europes largest which has a range of slides and pools including the Black Hole and the newly opened King Cobra, this makes an excellent fun family day out.
For a more relaxed atmosphere, the resort of Can Pastilla is perfect. Just a short walk or mini train ride along the promenade away, the resort is quieter and provides the chance to soak up some sun in a more sedate setting. You'll also find Palma Aquarium located nearby.
Arenal has a large variety of restaurants and cafes offering a range of both traditional and international cuisine, for those travelling with families, children are well catered for and the restaurants in the harbour are especially popular with stunning views at sunset. As the sun goes down in Arenal, the resort begins to buzz and during the summer months has a lively night scene. There is something for everyone and the many bars and clubs stay open until the early hours, ensuring that party-goers can dance the night away!
For shoppers, there are a number of small shops selling traditional goods and cheap souvenirs as well as local supermarkets for the daily essentials, however for some serious shopping, Palma is only a 10 minute taxi ride away and boasts a huge array of the shops and department stores.
The close proximity of Arenal to the airport does mean that visitors could experience some aircraft noise during their stay, however for the most part aircraft approach from over the sea and are rarely a disturbance in the resort.
Arenal is approximately a 15 minute transfer from the airport
